Ep 43: Julie Mahoney - How a Surprising Shift From Fine Art to Craft Brought Her Peace, Passion, and a Thriving Business

I love hearing how each of our guests comes to metal. For some it’s a fairly straight path, but for others it can be a path full of twists and turns. These are my favorite stories and I’m continually inspired by the brave choices that so many our guests have made to live a more authentic and creative life.

Julie Mahoney came to the craft later in life with the intention of making jewelry for herself. She really didn’t intend for it to become a business, but it soon did. See, Julie had been a fine arts painter and instructor at a local university for 28 years, and she was closing in on retirement. It was then that she decided to take a metalsmithing class for fun and that my friends was the beginning of a new and beautiful chapter in Julie’s life.
